AMD Likely to Refresh Ryzen 3000 CPU

According to rumors, AMD is planning to release updated models of the Ryzen 3000 CPU series. The units would be marked „XT” and have higher clock speeds, resulting in better performance for single-core applications.

New Ryzen 3000 series CPU may be launched.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. AMD may plan to release updated versions of the Ryzen 3000;
  2. The units are to differ from the base models with higher clock;
  3. For now, the information is just a rumor.

AMD seems to be planning to release refreshed models of Ryzen 3000 series CPU, recently announced in the Chinese forum Chiphell (via VideoCardz) and in a slide from Gigabyte's presentation of the B550-based motherboards, which was revealed by Hassan Mujtaba.

The processors are to be marked "XT" and be almost identical to their predecessors - the only difference will be the clock, which in all cases will be rated 200-300 MHz higher (VideoCardz editors note that the number of cores / threads has not been confirmed, but they do not expect any changes in this respect). This should translate into excellent performance in applications with high single-core load - including games. The exact values can be found in the table below - they have been compared with the base models. It is worth noting that the prices of new CPUs are not known yet.

It's worth noting that for the time being the information is only a rumor, but given the market situation, it seems quite likely - improving single-thread performance of Zen 2-based CPU would be a very good response to the launch of competing Intel Comet Lake series.
