Art Director of Dying Light 2 Leaves Techland

The art director and screenwriter of Dying Light 2, Pawel Selinger, left Techland and shared the news on social media.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. After almost 22 years of working with Techland, Pawel Selinger has resigned from further activities for the company;
  2. Selinger held the position of art director and lead writer for the currently created Dying Light 2.

Techland published public Holiday wishes some time ago, in which the team promised to announce more details about Dying Light 2 in the upcoming year. Well, it' the first week of 2021 and we did find out something, but I guess that's not the kind of information we expected. Pawel Selinger, the art director and main screenwriter of the game,announced his end of cooperation with Techland through LinkedIn:

"After over twenty-two years, I decided to end my cooperation with Techland. I would like to express my gratitude to the company that has allowed me to develop and fulfill myself for half of my life. Techland, I will always be rooting for you, as well as the great people I have met thanks to you. I wish you that Dying light 2 and subsequent projects will become world hits.Good bye and good luck!"

We do not know the exact reasons for Selinger's departure, however, given the reports from the company over the last few years, we are not particularly surprised by his resignation. The title suffers from turbulent development cycle, not unlike that of Cyberpunk 2077, and the atmosphere in the company is tense to say the least, as suggested by anonymous statements of other employees.

Dying Light 2 was supposed to launch in 2019 and 2020, and is now one of the most anticipated games of 2021. However, we still can't be 100% sure that we're finally going to get the game, and the aforeinformation is not encouraging. On the other hand, of course, they do not have to be directly related to the turbulent development.

His adventure with journalism began with a personal blog, the name of which is no longer worth quoting. Then he interpreted Iranian dramas and the Joker, writing for cinematography journal, which, sadly, no longer exists. His writing credentials include a degree in film studies, but his thesis was strictly devoted to video games. He has been writing for Gamepressure since March 2020, first writing a lot about movies, then in the newsroom, and eventually, he became a specialist in everything. He currently edits and writes articles and features. A long-time enthusiast of the most bizarre indie games and arthouse cinema. He idolizes surrealism and postmodernism. He appreciates the power of absurdity. Which is probably why he also tried soccer refereeing for 2 years (with so-so results). He tends to over-philosophize, so watch out.
