GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 Keep Selling Like Hot Cakes

Take-Two Interactive has published a financial report covering the fiscal year from March 2018 to March 2019. The publisher of subsequent installments of GTA, NBA 2K or Borderlands has reason to be happy. According to GamesIndustry.biz, the best-selling production in the company's catalogue is still GTA V. The title has sold more than 110 million copies so far, which is the third best result in the history of video games. In other Rockstar games - Red Dead Redemption 2 reached 24 million users (although the last quarter had "only" one million sold copies). It is also worth remembering that both productions have popular online modules that provide creators and publishers with money.

This is one of the reasons why the company's annual revenue rose by 49% to $2.67 billion and net income was $333.84 million. The results for the last quarter of the fiscal year also look good. Revenue rose to $539 million, while profit was $56.83 million. In the new fiscal year, the company has a plan to reach a ceiling of between $2.7 and $2.8 million in revenue.

Let's not forget that Take-Two is more than just Rockstar's productions. The company also boasted excellent sales of the Borderlands series. The whole cycle moved 43 million items, 20 million of which was achieved by Borderlands 2 alone. It's a result that allows creators and publishers to sleep peacefully before the release of the third part. NBA 2K19 had the best opening in the history of the series. Sales exceeded 9 million units, and this result is comparable to the previous edition of the famous basketball cycle.

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, admitted that the company is serious about entering mobile markets. We are talking here about smartphone ports of popular games, creating dedicated applications or producing spin-offs of well-known series. However, what is equally interesting, the company has confirmed that it plans to release several other (still unconfirmed) games in the current fiscal year. Let us remind you that the offer for the next 10 months includes such titles as Borderlands 3, The Outer Worlds, NBA 2K20 or Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.
