Half-Life Alyx With Scale Comparable to Half-Life 2

The creators of Half-Life: Alyx answered user questions on Reddit. We learned, among other things, that the biggest team in Valve's history is working on the game, and its storyline will resemble Half-Life 2 in length.

Two months left before the launch of Alyx. Is your VR device in?

Valve has arranged an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit. Users could ask for everything - mainly in the context of Half-Life: Alyx. As a result, we learned some interesting first-hand information. At the beginning, the creators have indicated that all the questions about the plot will go to Erik Walpow (scriptwriter), who... will have to lie when answering.

Players have often asked if Alyx will actually appear in March this year. As we know, the release delays are a daily bread for the industry (Cyberpunk 2077 and Dying Light 2 are just two of the latest examples). Fortunately, the creators made it clear that in this case it will not be so, because the game is finished (not counting the final scene), and the devs have already played it through several times.

The size of the development team is a big surprise. The team that deals directly with Half-Life: Alyx has 80 people, making it the largest single team in Valve's history. Even Half-Life 2 a was developed by a much smaller team.

And since we are already at the second installment of Gordon Freeman's adventures, the creators assure that Alyx will be of similar volume in terms of content. The time needed to complete the new VR game from Valve is comparable to the time we spent with HL2. And let's remember that it was about 15 hours - howlongtobeat.com says that the main story takes 13 hours, the side options are 2 extra hours, and to see everything you need almost 20 hours.

Apparently, the developers did not lie about Alyx as a full-fledged Half-Life game. A huge team and a dozen or so hours of story will surely set the players in a positive mood. Let us remind that the further development of the series (i.e. development of Half-Life 3) will depend on the reception of the game. That's why no one is surprised that Valve Index goggles sell like hot cakes. We hope this "experiment" works, but we'll see about that in March, on PC only.
