Horizon: Forbidden West's Visuals Impress Not Only on PS5

Horizon: Forbidden West is expected to look better than its predecessor not only on PS5. To prove it, Guerrilla Games published screenshots from the PlayStation 4 edition.

The second part of the Horizon series is expected to delight players in many ways: more diverse machines and people, more freedom of movement (including in combat), etc. The developers have also promised that the game - although a confirmed next-gen - will also work and look good on Sony's older console. The is to be proven by fresh screenshots captured on the PS4 edition of Horizon: Forbidden West.

Guerrilla Games showed off the images on Twitter. The game undoubtedly looks very good, although we're sure that some spots fall flat compared to the PS5 release.

As a reminder: the developers have promised an improved look for Aloy compared to Horizon: Zero Dawn, while maintaining (if not improving) performance. This is supposed to be made possible by the PlayStation 4's yet untapped power reserves, though still no details have been provided. It's also not just about a good port either - Forbidden West has been developed and tested on both PS4 and PS5 from the start.

Unfortunately, the static images do not allow us to say whether the title works and looks in motion as good as Guerrilla Games suggests. We're also not sure whether they're talking about the standard PlayStation 4 model or the Pro variant (although the captions on the images do point to the former). We should find out closer to the game's release.

Horizon: Forbidden West is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, where it will debut on February 18, 2022.
