IN A NUTSHELL:
This Friday, Monster Hunter: Rise - the latest installment of the flagship action RPG series from Capcom - will debut on the market. The title will initially be available only on Nintendo Switch (next year we'll also get a PC edition). On the web you can already find quite a few reviews of the game.
According to reviewers, Monster Hunter :Rise is a very good game, and some of them even consider it one of the best installments of the series. This is mainly due to a very well-designed combat system, which resembles what we know from previous installments, but enriched with additional mechanics. Experts also appreciate the visuals - the game looks pretty good, despite the limitations of Nintendo Switch. However, some simplifications may not be appreciated by more orthodox fans of the series.
"While the Rampage Mode was a bit disappointing, Monster Hunter Rise ultimately manages to incorporate the excellent gameplay of its predecessors while introducing the interesting new Wirebug mechanics. The game also brings back the interesting and often wonky weapon designs that many fans missed in Monster Hunter World. While graphics may have been sacrificed somewhat for this timed Switch Exclusive, Rise's personality more than makes up for it," Arran Winmai, XGN (rated 8.5/10).
"This new opus is a great opportunity for everyone who dreamed of trying out the Monster Hunter licence but never dared to do so. Nonetheless Monster Hunter Rise find itself oversimplified because of its new features for most of the saga’s regulars," Aekonimi, IGN France (rating 7/10).
On Metacritic, the game currently has a review average of 87%. On OpenCritic the game is faring similarly well (86% average, with 87% of reviewers recommending the title).
