During today’s Monster Hunter Wilds showcase, several new enemy monsters were revealed in a new trailer, along with a new flagship monster. Players will have the opportunity to try out the game again in another Open Beta Test. There will be three hunts available, the test will allow crossplay, and any characters created in the previous beta can be carried over. The open beta will be available in two events starting February 6th to 9th, and February 13th to 16th.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta will be available this weekend, and features two new hunts

Ahead of Monster Hunter Wilds’ planned release later this month, Capcom held a showcase to show a new trailer, dates for the next open beta, and additional content that will be available for the game. The full Capcom Spotlight + Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase lasted a little over forty-minutes and featured brief updates on other upcoming Capcom titles such as Onimusha: Way of the Sword and the Okami Sequel, that was announced at 2024’s Game Awards.

The new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds featured the monster that appears on the game’s cover art, also known as the flagship monster, Arkveld. Based on the trailer, it appears that this monster has some kind of ability to absorb the powers of other monsters. Arkveld was seen sapping the electricity from a powerful monster featured in previous trailers and then using that electricity power to fight the characters. Arkveld will be one of three hunts available in this weekend’s open beta, though fair warning, it’s a “special advanced” quest.

The Doshaguma hunt from the previous open beta test will be available again, as well as a new monster hunt, Gypceros, though that specific monster will be familiar to fans of previous games. Players are now able to pre-order a Standard Edition, a Deluxe Edition, and a Premium Deluxe Edition of Monster Hunter Wilds, the ultimate of which will include two upcoming cosmetic DLC packs.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to be one of the biggest releases of this year, and its full launch is only a few weeks away. Monster Hunter: World brought this series to a whole new level, and this is the first true sequel to that game, which launched seven years ago. This will also be the first Monster Hunter game to feature a non-silent protagonist, which was apparently inspired by The Witcher.

The Monster Hunter Wilds open beta will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. This open beta test will also be available to players who do not have a PS Plus or Game Pass subscription and will allow crossplay across all platforms.
