PS5 and Xbox Series X Presentations Rescheduled

In connection with the cancelation of this year's E3, both Sony and Microsoft have decided to change their plans to promote ninth generation consoles and announcements of dedicated games. Some of the events may take place a little later, and others a little earlier - for example in May.

Without the E3, June is not so crucial anymore.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. After cancelation of E3, Sony and Microsoft have changed their plans to promote new platforms;
  2. Presentations of the launch titles for PS5 and XSX may take place in May;
  3. Current assumptions may change due to the coronavirus.

Daniel Ahmad, an analyst from Niko Partners, informed on Twitter that both Sony and Microsoft have changed their plans to present ninth generation consoles in connection with the cancelation of this year's E3. Some of the events will take place a little earlier, others a little later - in short, the second week of June is no longer a key moment when everyone is fighting for the players' attention.

According to journalists of Video Games Chronicle, the presentation of the first games on PlayStation 5 can be expected in May and will most likely be the same for Xbox Series X. However, it is worth remembering that the plans may be subject to further modifications due to the global epidemiological situation. In the next tweet, the aforementioned analyst at Niko Partners also warns about this.

We would like to remind that both ninth generation consoles - PS5 and XSX - are expected to be launched at the end of this year. So far we know more about Microsoft's new platform. Sony has some catching up to do in this regard, which may be partly due to the desire not to distract attention from several high-profile PS4 releases (The Last of Us: Part II and Ghost of Tsushima), and partly due to complications associated with the pandemic. The huge interest in the recently released DualSense controller shows that gamers are thirsty for information about another Sony's device.
