AI Will Complete Games for Us Thanks to Sony's Patent

Sony has patented another interesting solution. The company wants to allow AI to learn the habits of the player, so that it can later help him complete the game.

Sony has been showing a lot of interest in AI since 2019, working on its own intelligent assistant and... mechanical robo companion for gamers. The company's latest patent, spotted by SegmentNext, shows yet another AI application. The application on the World Intellectual Property Organization website describes a system that enables AI to help the player through the game.

As we read, Sony expects to develop a basic AI profile with basic patterns corresponding to typical player behavior. Over the course of subsequent sessions, the system will observe the user's actions across multiple titles and thus learn their habits. Such an experienced "helper" will can be ordered to complete a demanding part of the game, and then give us back the controls without interruption. What's more, the AI will take note of any such assistance, perhaps suggesting that the user takes advantage of AI's help in completing a similar sequence.

The patent also mentions online gameplay. If the user is forced to pause the game for a short time, the AI will be able to replace him. So there will be no need to end the session or wait for a busy teammate to return.

This is another intriguing Sony patent discovered in recent years. Last month, internet users were amused by the idea of being able to control any object (for example... a banana). Meanwhile, back in 2019, the players were intrigued by a project that allows for - in the shortest terms - uploading playable game states as a kind of demo version. However, it should be noted that the road from filing a patent application to the implementation of a solution is very long, and some of these projects may never come into existence. Nevertheless, it must be admitted that Sony has a lot of interesting ideas for the development of video games.
