Star Wars - Disney is Looking for Actors for Several Key Roles

New rumors seem to reveal something about Disney's plans for Star Wars. Recent reports suggest that an American label is looking for actors who will play two characters well known to Star Wars fans.

One of the characters from Rebels may get a movie (or a live-action series).
The most important information:
  • The Illuminerdi claims that Disney is looking for an actor to play the role of Ezra Birdger from the animated series Star Wars: Rebels;
  • Sources say that it's not about playing in the second season of The Mandalorian, but in another production created for Disney+;
  • At the same time, Daniel Richtman reports on Disney's search for an actor to play the role of Grand General Thrawn in a film or a live-action series.

Star Wars fans have already completed the last movie trilogy, but so far it hasn't translated into any more Star Wars productions. For the time being, we have had to settle for vague promises from Disney and - as usual - various rumors. Another portion of the latter was brought, among others, by The Illuminerdi, which reported about the search for an actor to play the role of Ezra Bridger in Disney's live-action production. The website's sources say that Disney is looking for a man in his 30-40s, preferably of Asian origin, but the label is also considering people with Latin and Indian roots or from the Middle East.

Ezra Bridger is a character well known to fans as one of the characters from Star Wars Rebels. The young Padawan also played an insignificant role in the final episode of the series and it seems that Bridger's fate will not end there. Some would probably like to see him in the second season of The Mandalorian, like Boba Fetta and Ahsoka Tano. However, The Illuminerdi has clearly stated that there is another production. Perhaps it is a continuation of the animated Clone Wars with the latter character (being Ezra's companion in Rebels), which we heard about two weeks ago.

Will the live-action incarnations of Ezra and Ahsoka appear together?

One more report may be related to this information. Its source is Daniel Richtman - the same one who reported on the series with Ahsoka, and has a lot of confirmed leaks on his account. On his Patreon (via The Disney Insider) he claims that Disney is looking for an actor to play one of the most famous characters in Star Wars outside the movie trilogy - Grand Admiral Thrawn. Created in the early 1990s by Timothy Zahn, Thraw (or Mitth'raw'nuruodo, as that's his real name) quickly became one of the most popular characters among Star Wars fans and their favorite villain. The Admiral also appeared in the aforementioned Rebels, in which Lars Mikkelsen provided his voice to the character.

Grand Admiral Thrawn is allegedly another of the roles waiting to be cast by Disney.

Of course, Disney may be looking for an actor to play the role of Thrawn for The Mandalorian or any other production that has nothing to do with Rebels. However, it cannot be ruled out that this could be linked to the rumors about Ahsoka Tano and Ezra Bridger. Of course, we would have to assume that the rumors are true, and so far we have no reason to consider any of them as confirmed. So far, Disney and Lucasfilm have not commented on this information.
