Jedi Knight Inspired Devs of New Star Wars FPS

One of the upcoming Star Wars games is expected to be inspired by classic installments of the series, such as Dark Forces and Jedi Knight. That's according to job announcements from Respawn Entertainment.

We have known that Respawn Entertainment is working on three new Star Wars games for over a year now. One of them is the sequel to Fallen Order - Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, whose release is just around the corner. The other two projects are a strategy game and a first-person shooter.

Although little is still known about the latter two, the job announcements published on Respawn Entertainment's website may give us some clues as to the shape of the upcoming games. They show that the new Star Wars FPS may draw on classics from years ago, such as Dark Forces or Jedi Knight.

The shape of the new Star Wars game

Some clues treating what the new Star Wars game will look like have emerged in announcements for a cinematic lead or lead light artist.

In their content we can read:

"In cooperation with Lucasfilm, Star Wars FPS Team is developing a new AAA FPS in the Star Wars galaxy. Inspired by classic titles such as Dark Forces and Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, our story-driven single-player game is being developed from the ground up using the power of Unreal Engine 5. We're combining this inspiration and technology with Respawn's expertise in creating best-in-class shooters to deliver a whole new experience our players will love."

Recall that in January we reported that job announcements had surfaced, suggesting that the new Star Wars FPS would offer a multiplayer mode. This, put together with recent reports, may already be shaping some picture of what the fans can expect.

The rest remains in the realm of conjecture. We have to wait for official announcements from the studio.
