Most Popular Streamers of 2019

At the end of the year it's time to look at the year's most popular streamers. The list includes Ninja, Tfue and Shroud, which is hardly a big surprise.

Twitch has lost two popular streamers this year, but this has not had a drastic impact on the popularity of the website.

The end of the year is a time for summaries and reflections. Same goes for the gaming community, in its own unique way of course. StreamElements, together with Arsenal.gg, presented a list of the most popular streamers, games and streaming services from around the world, covering the past twelve months.

But let's start with platforms

Twitch continues to be the largest streaming platform. Microsoft's Mixer, although it "convinced" several major streamers to join it, still remains at the tail end of the list of giants. Comparing last year's stream view growth, Facebook Gaming recorded the biggest progress (210% annual improvement).

What about games?

Surprisingly, Fortnite has suffered a significant drop in viewing figures and has lost its leading position in the classification to League of Legends. This year, however, Grand Theft Auto V made the biggest jump, with an increase of 277%.

So, who's the leader among streamers?

The ranking is a combination of views on Mixer and Twitch, as stars like Ninja and Shroud migrated between these sites this year. The 21-year-old Fortnite streamer Turner "Tfue" Tenney took first place in the list - this year his live shows were watched over 87 million hours in total. Behind him are Michael "shroud" Grzesiek and Jaryd "Summit1g" Lazar. Interestingly, we didn't see Dr. Disrespect on this list, who was called Streamer of the Year at the Esports Awards in November.

No report would be complete without immortalising the achievements and records broken by the events taking place in 2019. Mixer may still have a lot of catching up to do when compared with such giants as Twitch and YouTube, but it was this service who got the biggest audience at the same time during Level Up Cast this year. The second place was taken by the so-called "Worlds", or World Championships in League of Legends, and the third final of the World Championships in Fortnite.
