Dead by Daylight is a popular asymmetrical horror game which is being constantly developed. There are rumors that the next major update, containing Rift, Tome 18 and a couple of mechanical changes, will be coming to the game in January. You can find out more about this from this guide.

Tome 18 in DBD - Original news [03.01.2023]

In DBD, a Bone Chill event and a Tome 17, called Commitment, ends tomorrow. So, this is the last chance to unlock cosmetic items from the Rift. Behaviour Interactive has currently only published a general roadmap showing plans for the next six months. specific dates are missing there. Additionally, it only covers changes related to gameplay mechanics. We know nothing about new tomes or chapters.

Note: section below contains speculations based on leaks. It is not official information and is subject to change.

However, X user called dvveet, revealed some information about what we can expect this month with midchapter 30.5. Of course, this information is not official.

  1. Tome 18 will start 31 January. This seems probable, because in the last two years, the January tomes have launched at the end of the months. Of course, it will be paired with a Rift, where you will unlock new skins.
  2. A new survivor will be released.
  3. Graphic rework of Backwater Swamp realm.

However, the mechanical changes deserve special attention. The post says that:

  1. Onryo, Hillbilly and Blight add-ons are going to receive modifications.
  2. The effect of Save the Best for Last, Grim Embrace, Quick Gambit, Shadowborn, Monitor and Abuse perks are also to be changed.
  3. There will be some quality of life updates such as the FOV Slider and a solution for 3-gen.

These are all the changes Behaviour Interactive has planned for the period from January to March. So, it is hard to believe that we will get all these new features at the very beginning of the year. The leak suggests that these event and features will be launched on 9 or 10 January on PTB. That is when we are most likely to find out if it was real.

Among changes and additions presented above there is one missing – fix for Knight. Two weeks ago this killer was disabled due to an exploit. To this date, it hasn’t been restored to the game and it is still unclear when this will change.

Update [04.01.2021]

Further reports about DBD's near future have appeared on the web.

  1. The game will feature a new Spring Event. It will, of course, be accompanied by Event Tome.
  2. The series of characters on license is to come to an end – Chapter 31 will be original.
  3. Interestingly, the leaks also suggest that a lootbox is also to arrive in the game. However, it’s unclear how exactly these will work.

Update #2 [08.01.2021]

The rumours mentioned in the original message are true. Indeed, Behaviour Interactive has published a list of changes that will come to the game in the near future. Everything described by dvveet can be found there. The only difference is that the leaker did not mention changes in Hex: Ruin.

Update #3 [31.01.2021]

Yesterday patch 7.5.0 hit the game and introduced all the changes described above. Today, however, the Tome 18 Revision will be launched. It will focus on the survivor Alan Wake and the killer The Deathslinger.
