Ubisoft Evacuates 1000 Employees From Ukraine to Poland and Romania

Ubisoft evacuates workers from Ukraine. More than a thousand people and their families are to be sent to neighboring countries, mainly Poland and Romania.

Game industry representatives are doing what they can to provide support to the victims of the war in Ukraine. The day before yesterday we wrote about the fact that Ubisoft will donate 200 thousand euros to the Ukrainian Red Cross and Save the Children Foundation. However, it turns out that these are not all the actions that the French company has taken.

Ubisoft has two branches in Ukraine - in Kiev and Odessa. Concerned about the safety of the people working in them, the company's management were to monitor the situation and it turned out it was deteriorating quickly. In mid-February they advised members of all teams to take shelter with their families in a place they consider safe. The payment of benefits to cover costs, as well as paying wages in advance, was supposed to help with this difficult decision.

But that's not all - in the meantime, Ubisoft was to start organizing free accommodation in neighboring countries for its employees. Editorial staff of sister website GRYOnline.pl contacted the company's home branch and confirmed this information. It turns out that more than a thousand employees from the branches in Kiev and Odessa with their families will be evacuated - mainly to Poland and Romania.

In response to the inquiry, Rafal Adasiak - marketing manager at Ubisoft Poland - replied what follows:

"[...] the company has already donated more than one million euros to help Ukraine - we have made contributions to various foundations. Currently we are focusing our efforts on the evacuation of our two studios (over 1000 people), which were located in Odessa and Kiev. We are evacuating not only the employees but also their families, who come every day mainly to Poland and Romania. We provide them with free accommodation, livelihood and all necessary assistance. As you probably realize, the situation is very dynamic and we try to adapt our actions every day."
