Watch Footage From the Cancelled The Last of Us Animation

A footage from the animated adaptation of The Last of Us have been uploaded to the web. This short animation was supposed to be a link between the two games of the series. However, Sony decided to abandon the project.

Everything indicates that in the past there were plans to create an animated version of The Last of Us. Stills from the abandoned short film, which was supposed to be a "solid bridge" between the two scenes of the series, have just appeared on the Internet.

Animated short film of The Last of Us was supposed to retell the story of Joel and Ellie known from the first installment of the game.

As noticed by Nerd4.life, the footage from the film appeared on the website of the Oddfellows company. It follows that in cooperation with Sony it was to create a short animated film set in the universe of The Last of Us. The artists' task was to present the most important events presented in the first installment of the series in a new light.

"Our proposal was to reinterpret each of the chapters of the game with a unique visual treatment. Using a singular narrative device would allow us to bridge the styles and travel seamlessly between the past and present. Ultimately Sony decided not to move forward with this project."

Although the page dedicated to The Last of Us has been removed from Oddfellows' website, you can still see that perticula page by using Google Cache. It shows that the artists planned to create a film that would resemble the animated prequel to Blade Runner 2049.

The reason for Sony's decistion to cancel The Last of Us' animated feature remains unknown. The only thing left of the production is a few pictures that show what the animation could have looked like if it saw the light of day.
