Sons of the Forest: How to build a bonfire and collect firewood?
Fires in Sons of the Forest will not only allow you to warm up and cook meals, but also help deter some enemies. On the following page of the guide we describe the types of bonfires and point out the differences between them.
Last update:
The ability to quickly light a fire is one of the basic skills that will help you survive in the inhospitable world of Sons of the Forest. On this page, we will present you with all the most important information related to fire mechanics, which will help you illuminate the darkness.
How to light a basic campfire?
The first step to lighting a basic campfire will be to find two sticks. Dry stumps are scattered throughout the game map, so this task shouldn't be too difficult. When you find the right stick, take it from your inventory and then look down. Select the broken stick symbol from the available interaction options. Repeat this operation for both branches.
You can then light the collected pile of broken sticks on fire, creating a basic, small bonfire. This type of construction will provide you with some light and warmth. However, there are several simple ways to improve our fireplace, which we will present below.
How to strengthen a fire?
A simple way to increase the burning time of a fire is to strengthen it using regular stones. Find some cream-colored boulders and then take them from your inventory. After approaching the fire with the stone, you should notice outlines around it. Build a circle and your bonfire will be effectively strengthened and will last longer.
How to collect and use firewood?
To further enhance the effect of the fire, you will need to feed the flame with larger pieces of wood. To do this, cut down a tree or find a log already lying on the ground. Using an axe (even the basic tool you receive at the beginning of the game), start working on the wood, dividing it into smaller and smaller pieces. The guide lines that will appear when you try to divide the log in half will help you with this.
Keep chopping until you are left with wooden stakes split in half. Pick up two of these pieces and then use them on the bonfire. The flame will burn with a brighter and larger flame, and your strengthened fire will last much longer.
