System Shock Remake tasks you with repairing the Subsystem Relay 428 once you try to jettison the Groves. Our walkthrough explains how exactly to do this. We explain how to use the Diagnostic Receptacle on the Maintenance level, how to unlock Maintenance areas, where to find the Interface Demodulator and how to repair Relay 428.

Unlocking the objective

You must first reach Executive level and start working towards unlocking the Master Jettison Enable Control - System Shock Remake: Repairing the Subsystem Relay 428 - puzzle description - Puzzles - System Shock Remake Guide

You must first reach Executive level and start working towards unlocking the Master Jettison Enable Control. We've described how to do it in detail on the Jettisoning the Beta Grove page.

After visiting all three Groves and activating their switches, return to the master control. Trying to use it will notify you about a damaged relay subsystem. You'll be sent back to Level 3.

Returning to Maintenance

You must return to Maintenance - use elevators to go back down the station.

In Maintenance you must visit the Repair Bay in the south-eastern part of the map. The corridor leading there's next to one of the elevators.

Using the Diagnostic Receptacle and the System Analyzer

Inside the Repair Bay you'll find the Diagnostic Receptacle - System Shock Remake: Repairing the Subsystem Relay 428 - puzzle description - Puzzles - System Shock Remake Guide

Inside the Repair Bay you'll find the Diagnostic Receptacle. Interact with it to perform diagnostics. Take the audio log, from which you'll learn about the failure of the Subsystem Relay 428 (the number should be constant rather than random).

This unlocks four side areas - Alpha Maintenance, Beta Maintenance, Gamma Maintenance and Delta Maintenance.

You can also visit the northern side of this level and find the System Analyzer. There's a keyboard there, on which you must enter the relay number - 428. You'll learn you need an Interface Demodulator to fix it.

You can explore the new areas in the northern, southern, western and eastern parts of the map. Each of these locations are home to strong enemies but also plenty of valuable loot.

The Interface Demodulator is located in Beta Maintenance. Add one of them to your inventory.

Locating and replacing the damaged Subsystem Relay 428

Explore the new areas in Maintenance until you find the damaged relay (Error message) - System Shock Remake: Repairing the Subsystem Relay 428 - puzzle description - Puzzles - System Shock Remake Guide

Explore the new areas in Maintenance until you find the damaged relay (Error message). Its location can be random. In our case, we found it in Beta Maintenance.

Interact with it to remove the damaged component and install a new Interface Demodulator.

You can now return to Maintenance to jettison the Beta Grove.
