The Alters: How to expand the base?

The limited size of the base is a problem that you will sooner or later face in The Alters. This guide page explains how to unlock the Base Expansion option and its Organics Tank. This is a very important step in planning the construction of additional rooms in the base.

How to unlock the Base Expansion option?

1. When the game starts, your base is at level 1. It may prove to be insufficient over time, as the available space will quickly fill up with new important rooms.
2. Base Expansion will become available for the first time after advancing to Qubit Level 2; this is a mechanic that we've described on the page: How to increase Qubit Level?.

1. The research project list in the Research Laboratory should include the item Base Expansion. It's one of the more time-consuming ones to invent, but you should not postpone this project.

How to activate Base Expansion?

After completing the research, visit the Command Center and interact with the left terminal. Level 2 should already be available, but you need to pay for the expansion process; Metals and Minerals will be necessary here.

On the same screen, you will learn about the changes that will occur in your base:

1. More slots for rooms - these are the purple slots in the base preview.
2. A larger Organics Tank - this is useful not only for current expenses, but also when planning travels. As a reminder, you will then need to gather a supply of Organics which will correspond with the current Base Mass.
