How to collect rapidium?

1. You can obtain rapidium by finding its deposits in the game's world. You need to explore the planet's surface and look around the area near the base.
2. You'll find pieces of rapidium and its shallow deposits quite often. Shallow deposits can be mined immediately, without the need to build anything first. Unfortunately they run out quickly so they can't serve as unlimited sources.

1. In Act 1 you'll be able to start finding deep deposits of rapidium. To use those, you need to scan the ground and then set up a Mining Outpost - we've described the entire process in detail on the FAQ page How to use the scanner?.
2. Building an extraction point will let you obtain a lot of rapidium that won't run out. Unfortunately, Jan or one of the Alters has to extract it personally.

1. You may find yourself having issues with the rapidium deposit from Act 1, specifically with finding its deepest point.
2. You'll need to climb up to a high ledge before setting up the scanning probes. The attached pictures show the where to build the Mining Outpost. Don't forget to stock up on pylons as this area is far from other deposits.

What is rapidium used for?

1. The most important use for rapidium is creating new Alters at the quantum computer. Fortunately, this isn't too expensive.

1. You should also use rapidium to build important rooms inside the base, such as the Rapidium Ark, which is tied to several tasks. Arks are expensive, each one costing 120 rapidium.
2. You don't really need to use rapidium on craftable items at the workshop. Create only items that you currently need. It's also worth having at least 50 rapidium on you at all times in case of an emergency.
