Before playing The Thaumaturge, you may wonder whether the game allows you to create a party consisting of different characters. This page of the guide will explain whether Wiktor is the only playable character, as well as who can potentially help him fight opponents.

Salutors during the fights

The world in The Thaumaturge (apart from minor story-related exceptions) is explored alone - The Thaumaturge: Can you have a party of heroes? - FAQ - The Thaumaturge - game guide

The world in The Thaumaturge (apart from minor story-related exceptions) is explored alone. On the screen, only Wiktor is visible and it is this character that the player controls.

This looks different during fights. Attacks can be done by:

  1. Wiktor - you choose skills from those already unlocked;
  2. Salutor - only one creature of your choice can attack in a given turn. After advancing to the next turn, you can stick with the same Salutor or switch to another one.

The active Salutor is selected on the left side of the screen. The game will display icons of the creatures belonging to Wiktor, and may also suggest that a given Salutor will be particularly useful for attacking a given opponent (e.g. in order to remove their trait and resistance).

Temporary allies

1 - The Thaumaturge: Can you have a party of heroes? - FAQ - The Thaumaturge - game guide
  1. At certain points in the story, you can gain temporary allies who can join you in fights.
  2. The ally has its own health and focus bars. They work autonomously, i.e. it independently selects skills and targets. The next action in the queue is marked in green. You can also find out who will be the target of the attack and what skill the ally will use.
