The Golem is one of the tougher enemies which you can face in The Traumaturge. On this page of our guide, we show how to initiate this optional fight which can ensue during Clay Ambitions story quest, how to keep Wiktor alive and mitigate Golem's attacks, and finally how to add the Golem to the list of Salutors available for use in battle.

How to unlock the boss fight?

1 - The Thaumaturge: How to beat Golem? - Bosses - The Thaumaturge - game guide
  1. You'll have your first meeting with the Golem, already in physical form, during the course of To Dust, You Shall Return story quest. He will make his appearance after Wiktor reaches the pier with Svetlana. At that moment, the situation doesn't escalate into a fully-fledged battle, as the creature is only there for the duration of the cut-scene.
  2. From this moment on, the plot develops into a plan to stop the Golem targeting the Szulski family. The actual confrontation with the Golem may take place during the Clay Ambitions main quest.
  3. Wiktor, joined by his friends, will take part in a ritual in the dungeon under the Nozyk Synagogue. The ritual will lead to the Golem appearing.

  1. One of the steps during the ritual is choosing how to behave regarding Ariel Rofe.
  2. To achieve the desired result, you need to choose the second or the third dialogue option (screenshot above) which means tricking Ariel and attempting to capture the Golem and tame him to become a team member. Only with these choices the ritual escalates into a full-scale battle against the Golem.

How to defeat the Golem?

3 - The Thaumaturge: How to beat Golem? - Bosses - The Thaumaturge - game guide
  1. Your task, as usual, is to focus on eliminating the shadows that the Golem sends at Wiktor in successive groups. Destroying shadows takes chunks of the Golem's health bar.
  2. Make sure to check all enemies for Traits to prepare correct responses. With troublesome Traits removed, the shadows will be much more susceptible to your attacks.
  3. The Golem can apply a positive status on the shadows, increasing their damage dealt. Try to eliminate those empowered shadows first (you can learn what Traits are in effect on the turn queue).
4 - The Thaumaturge: How to beat Golem? - Bosses - The Thaumaturge - game guide
  1. Be sure to pay attention to attempts to weaken the effectiveness of Wiktor's healing abilities - this is one of the negative statuses that can be applied on the protagonist (example in the screenshot). When that happens, make sure to right away use Salutor skills that transfer the negative effects or remove them, e.g. Upyr's Liberum Veto. Otherwise, the cast healing will be only a fraction of its full power, and you'll replenish only a few HP this way.
  2. Additionally, the Golem can perform attacks that deal more than 10 damage, and they cannot be mitigated in any way. This is another reason to have a powerful, fully-working healing spell on the ready.

Rewards for defeating the boss

5 - The Thaumaturge: How to beat Golem? - Bosses - The Thaumaturge - game guide
  1. After defeating the Golem, finish up with Clay Ambitions and then go to Rasputin in Powazki. As always, ask him for help in taming the Salutor. Only then the Golem will become a team member.
  2. Additionally, you'll receive XP and access to new Deed Dimension abilities.
