Days Gone: How to get motorcycle fuel?
As in the world of Days Gone, the apocalypse has already been raging for more than two years, petrol is somewhat tricky to obtain. Your motorcycle, however, does not run on air, and you must constantly fill its tank. On this page of the Days Gone guide, you will find detailed information on where to get fuel and how to check its level.

- Option 2 - Reaching a fuel tank/dispenser
- Option 3 - Refuelling at a mechanic in an encampment
How to check the fuel level?
The easiest way to check the amount of fuel in the motorcycle tank is to approach the machine while it is parked. The relevant information - the percentage of fuel left - will be displayed over the bike.
While driving, the amount of fuel is represented by the dispenser icon visible next to the minimap in the bottom right corner of the screen. Fuel will be used up over time and thus the icon will gradually change its colour from white to grey. When the fuel level is low, the fuel icon will turn yellow.
Can I run out of fuel?
Yes, you can run out of fuel in Days Gone. You must constantly control the contents of your tank. The consumption of all fuel reserves will prevent you from travelling any further with your bike. This will force you to find and bring fuel to your motorcycle.
Option 1 - Finding a fuel canister
Using a gasoline canister is the best way to fuel the motorcycle. In each unique location on the world map, you will find at least one red jerry can.
You need to pick up the canister, return with it to the motorcycle and hold the circle button in order to pour fuel into the tank. You cannot take canisters with you on your journey.
Option 2 - Reaching a fuel tank/dispenser
Getting petrol from a dispenser or a tank is the most convenient method of refuelling the motorcycle, but unfortunately, it is only possible in selected locations within the world. On the world map, you will see marked gas stations. You can drive up to a dispenser and refuel your machine. At the station, or nearby, you can often encounter Freakers or human opponents. It is always advisable to get rid of them first, before stopping by the dispensers.
In the initial hours of the game, you can also rely on a fuel tank that is located in the area of the O'Leary Mountain Safehouse. This is the location that Deacon and Boozer reach after completing the prologue. Drive the motorcycle up to the tank and fill up on fuel in the same way as in the case of a dispenser.
Option 3 - Refuelling at a mechanic in an encampment
Use the last method only if you need fuel for a longer trip and you do not want to look for a canister or drive up to a gas station. You can buy fuel from a mechanic in any of the big encampments in the game's world. This is, of course, not a free service. You have to pay credits to the mechanic and a single tank can, unfortunately, cost you around 100-200 credits.
