Days Gone: What do herbs, berries, mushrooms, animal meat do?
Deacon can collect different kinds of plants and animal meat during the game. On this page of our Days Gone guide we explain whether these collectible items can be safely put up for sale or whether they have any other applications.

The first group of items with uncertain applications are different types of herbs, and berries and mushrooms. You can find all these kinds of loot while exploring the game world. Hawkeyed is the ability that may help you in finding these items.

The second group is the meat of various wild animals, such as wolf, bear or deer. Deacon must first kill the animal and then interact with his corpse to get the meat.

All of the above findings can be sold at the cooks in the camp. Each large camp has one chef post. For each item provided to the chef, you will receive credits and positive trust points for this camp (the equivalent of reputation). Each prey, of course, has a different meaning and may be more valuable like wolf or bear meat, which is more difficult to obtain.
After reaching the cook you can sell things individually or all at once. Remember, however, that some of the collected items may have alternative uses:
- Berries are also used for the production of regeneration cocktails.
- Mushrooms are also used for the production of cocktails that increase and restore focus.
- You need plants to craft healing cocktails.
Consider skipping these items when selling something if you are interested in creating worthy items.
