Death Stranding 2: How to enable lethal weapon mode?

Death Stranding 2's multipurpose weapon fires rubber bullets that stun in its default mode. On this page you will learn how to switch your weapon to live ammo mode, which models have this feature, and what are the consequences of killing human opponents.

How to enable live ammo mode?

The Pizza Chef will inform you about the live ammo mode for multi-purpose weapons when you complete your first order for him. However, you don't have to wait for his instructions to use it. Live ammo mode is available immediately after you acquire a compatible weapon.

Live ammo mode is available in multipurpose weapons. You will recognize them by the [MP] designation in the name. To enable live ammo mode:

1. Open the radial tools menu by holding right on the D-pad;
2. Select the weapon you are interested in (top section) marked [MP];
3. Hold down the triggers (R2 and L2) and the Circle button and wait for the circular bar next to the weapon icon to charge.

You can recognize weapons with live ammo mode enabled by the orange icon visible next to the human opponents' icon. From now on, your shots will kill any enemies you encounter. To load the stun rubber bullets, repeat the process above.

Using live ammunition and killing enemies has serious consequences.
