Death Stranding 2: How to get chiral microbes to F5 East Distribution Center?
One of the routine orders in Death Stranding 2 may prove to be much more difficult than you might expect due to the presence of devourers. On this guide page, we've described how to tear through the devourers and deliver the chiral microbes to F5.
Main order No. 34 in Death Stranding 2 may seem simple at first glance. You need to deliver several containers of chiral microbes from the Metagenomicist to the F5 East Distribution Center. The cargo is heavy, but the route is short and straight. Along the way, however, you will encounter a sudden threat - as many as five Catchers, i.e. exceptionally powerful BTs. On this guide page we describe how to get through the Catchers and deliver the chiral microbes to F5.
How to prepare for the order?
Since the route is short and there are challenging fights waiting for you along the way, we recommend going to F5 on foot. Be sure to equip yourself with:
- Floating Carrier - you can load cargo on it,
- Machine gun - an excellent weapon against Catchers,
- A spare weapon capable of damaging BTs, such as an assault rifle,
- Blood grenades - in case you run out of ammo,
- One set of EX Grenades - to slow down a Catcher before it is captured,
- One set of EX Capture Grenades - for capturing a Catcher.
You will also need chiral crystals. Even though you'll earn a lot of them during the assignment, bring at least 600 with you just in case.
How to defeat the Catchers?
The route to F5 leads through a fairly flat, long beach. However, the order only appears to be easy, because during your journey you will encounter two earthquakes. Both will summon the Catchers, powerful BTs - on the nearer half of the beach you will encounter one octopus, and on the farther half you will encounter four panthers at once. If you have EX Grenades with you, it is in your best interest to trigger both of these fights.
The octopus is a fairly simple opponent and can't do anything to you if you keep your distance. Your goal is to capture it, as described on a separate page of the guide. Fight it until the enemy's health bar turns red, throw an EX Grenade to slow it down, get close to provoke the octopus into a devouring attack, then throw an EX Capture Grenade straight into its open mouth. Remember to pick up the white crystal dropped by the Catcher - you can now summon the octopus during fights with other Catchers.
Continue along the beach and when four panthers attack you, immediately summon the octopus via the weapons menu. The BTs will ignore you and focus on the octopus. You, on the other hand, can fire on them without worrying that you can get attacked, which should help you end the fight without any problems. Nothing will stand in your way until you reach F5.
How to escape from Catchers?
If you don't have EX Grenades, we don't recommend trying to fight them - four Catchers at once is a serious and chaotic challenge. It would be better to run away from them - the combat area is not infinite, and once you get out of the tar zone, the Catchers will disappear and leave you alone. The octopus fight can be avoided by staying away from the shore entirely, and instead walking up the nearby slope.
It may be impossible to avoid the panthers - you will have to run away. Keep running towards F5. Sam will be slowed down by the tar (the area is not yet connected to the chiral network, so the Coffin Board won't work). Do not stop and run forward, but occasionally look around you - the Catchers can dive into the tar and emerge in other places. When they prepare to attack, jump - this dodge will allow Sam to cover a little more distance. When you reach the edge of the huge pool of tar, the BTs will disappear. You can now deliver cargo to F5. This method is not recommended, as the payload will likely take a lot of damage while escaping - so it's better to equip EX Grenades and let the captured octopus fight for you.
