Catchers are massive BTs that pose one of the greatest threats in the game. If Sam is consumed by them, it will cause a voidout that will turn the entire surrounding area into a huge crater. One of the weapons available in the game, however, will allow you to capture Catchers and subdue them. On this page of the guide we describe how to catch and summon BTs.

How to capture Catchers?

Catchers may occasionally attack you during some orders - an example of this is order no. 34. You can also provoke combat with a Catcher by getting grabbed by any BT in one of the many BT areas on the map. When a BT touches you, the ground will turn to tar, and the BTs will try to drag you into it. If they succeed, a Catcher will appear and you can start fighting it.

To catch BTs you first need a special item. These are EX Capture Grenades - throwing weapons that you will receive for completing main order no. 33. They are the only way to capture BTs and only work on Catchers. They have no effect on normal BTs.

To capture a Catcher, you must first weaken it. Fight him until his health bar turns from yellow to red. Now you have to throw a EX Capture Grenade straight into its open mouth. You have to hit the Catcher in the face while it glows gold. This may require you to take some risks, such as provoking the BT into trying to eat you. To make the grenade throw easier, you can throw a regular EX Grenade first to slow down the Catcher.

If you manage to hit a BT with an EX Capture Grenade, it will die instantly. It will leave behind a white crystal that you must pick up. From now on, this type of Catcher is permanently at your disposal.

How to summon Catchers?

You can only summon a Catcher when fighting other Catchers. Go to the weapons menu by holding the right arrow on the D-pad - in the Special tab you will find your entire collection of Catchers. Summon a Catcher of your choice, which will cost you a certain amount of Chiral Crystals.

Your Catcher will appear in the arena for a few minutes and will automatically attack enemies. All other Catchers will prioritise it and ignore you to fight your Catcher instead. This allows you to escape or fire at enemy BTs.

Summoning Catchers is expensive, but collecting crystals from defeated BTs should cover the cost. It is therefore worth summoning your own BTs if you are unprepared for combat or if hostile Catchers outnumber you.
