Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is the second installment in the action adventure game series being developed by Kojima Productions. The main protagonist is once again a courier named Sam. This time he's trying to renew the connections between humans living in the post-apocalyptic version of Mexico.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is a sequel to the action adventure game set in a cross between post-apocalypse and science fiction, released in 2019. Kojima Productions studio, led by Hideo Kojima, known primarily for creating the iconic Metal Gear series, is once again responsible for the development.
Death Stranding 2 is a third-person open-world title, in which we mainly strive to rebuild the connection between settlements by carrying out the transport of supplies between them. In the sequel, many mechanics and tools known from the first game make a return.
Sam is equipped again with an exoskeleton that facilitates carrying loads on his back. He can also use vehicles and luggage racks that float in the air and follow him. We can travel the wasteland much easier by erecting various structures (like bridges) or using a rope that allows for descending steep slopes. Buildings, like the main character, are exposed to many external factors, including fires or earthquakes.
The novelty in DS2 is the DHV Magellan ship, which is a mobile operational base belonging to Drawbridge, which we can call to places connected by the chiral network. This new base includes Sam's cabin or the armory.
The game is not short of encounters with opponents, in which we have at our disposal mechanics from stealth and typical action games. The enemies include machines subordinate to Higgs and the Emerged (usually invisible; their presence is signaled to us by the odradek - Sam's mechanical arm). We use various types of firearms against robots, and thanks to the easy cargo removal option, we can engage in combat without risking its damage.
In Death Stranding 2 we can continue to follow Sam's story, who in the first installment was supposed to contribute to the unification of America, creating the so-called chiral network. The rest of the world, however, still has to deal with unnatural anomalies that divide humanity and pose a deadly danger to it. The protagonist decides to continue his work in Mexico, with the support of his old acquaintance Fragile and the civilian group Drawbridge. On Sam's path, dangerous creatures called the Emerged appear again, as well as an old enemy - Higgs Monaghan.
Following the example of the previous installment, Death Stranding 2 is powered by the Decima engine, also known from the Horizon series. Its creators - Guerrilla Games studio - supported Kojima Productions in utilizing the full potential of their technology. The game also relies on motion capture technology (with the help of PlayStation Studios Visual Arts) and the MetaHuman creator (by Epic Games), used for realistically depicting human faces.
In addition, the game is characterized by a star-studded cast - Norman Reedus (known from the TV series The Walking Dead) once again appeared in the main role, and he is partnered by Lea Seydoux (No Time to Die), Elle Fanning (Maleficent), Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool 2), George Miller (director of the Mad Max film series) and Troy Baker (popular dubbing actor, known among others from The Last of Us).
The collector's edition of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is available. In addition to the copy of the game, it also includes a 9-centimeter Dollman figure in the form of a pendant, a 38-centimeter Magellan statue, a letter from Hideo Kojima, and cards with graphics - all in a collector's box.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach review: A beautiful, bizarre delivery from Kojima
Sure, it gets weird—sometimes confusingly so—but Death Stranding 2 also delivers a gripping, thoughtful experience full of memorable moments, clever mechanics, and emotional highs. It's strange, beautiful, messy—and it's one of Kojima's best works yet, a truly worthy successor to the original.

What’s next for Kojima? Apparently booze and banking. He wants to be in our wallet and glassware, and I say: bring it on.

Gamer Social Club: 10 / 10 by Andrew Cooper
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a game that knows exactly what it wants to be and it delivers that vision with confidence. Its story is heartfelt, its world is stunning, and its gameplay loop is more engaging and refined than ever. While it still may not appeal to everyone, those who connect with it will find an experience unlike anything else out there. This is current-gen gaming at its finest – cinematic, ambitious, and deeply human. Kojima has once again cemented his place among the giants of game development, and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach stands as a bold, emotional, and unforgettable addition to his legacy.
Checkpoint Gaming: 9.5 / 10 by Charlie Kelly
Kojima Productions' best project yet is Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, and it's largely thanks to how refined and an improvement it is on its predecessor, rather than being the perhaps expected unconventional sequel. The star-studded cast and their conjoined chemistry have helped craft a more interconnected and personal world this time, only bolstered by the unbelievably gorgeous, detailed and technically impressive open world where every journey is its own story. Every job and delivery is a delight and an immersive challenge against the greater elements. Picking you up off your feet and prodding you along are all the other players' structures and creations around the world. In Death Stranding 2, you are never alone. That remains true whether it's paying respect to those that came before, or paving the future of open world games that Kojima Productions, and even you, the player, are actively doing at all times. What a bright future it is.
