Obsidian Entertainment studio accustomed us to epic stories in the RPG genre, thanks to Pillars of Eternity or Fallout: New Vegas, and this year their logo suddenly appeared on a game closer to Kickstarter indies – Pentiment. It's thanks to Josh Sawyer from Obsidian – a historian by education – who finally realized his dream of a game strictly sticking to medieval realities. Pentiment takes us to 16th-century Germany, where, as an ordinary employee of the scriptorium, we get involved in the investigation, investigating the case of mysterious murders.

The core of gameplay itself is unlikely to impress fans of fast, explosive action, but that's not the point. Pentiment enchants with its brilliantly conducted narrative, engaging plot, interesting, memorable characters and choices made at every step, the weight and importance of which you can really feel. And all this in an atmospheric graphic design reminiscent of medieval engravings, and the art of writing itself is just as significant hero of this game! The creators made great use of contemporary techniques, calligraphy, and the beginnings of printed writing to harmonize with characters we meet and events that unfold. However, don't worry – this is a position not only for fans of the Middle Ages, but also for anyone who likes well-written, engaging stories.
