We don't know exactly how much Electronic Arts paid for the exclusive rights to make Star Wars games, but it wasn't exactly a good deal for EA. For five years between 2013 and 2018, the company created only two moderately successful games based on one of the greatest pop culture phenomena of all time, one of which was at the epicenter of a giant lootbox scandal, earning the ire of many players.

This year, however, the company seems to have finally come together. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a game that has finally restored balance in the Force. Created by talented professionals from Respawn Entertainment, it offered us an old-fashioned action-packed adventure game full of Star Wars vibe, condensed to a dozen or so hours, free of microtransactions and being watered down with open world mechanics, borrowing good ideas from other games and delivering a solid, original implementation.

The game allows us to play as Cal, a young padawan who was lucky enough to survive the purge of the Jedi Order planned by the Emperor. Hiding from the forces of the empire, still hunting for survivors, with time Cal decides to face his oppressors. He achieves this by mastering lightsaber combat and various Force powers, jumping on platforms and exploring various planets. While the game is doesn’t break any new grounds, its solid execution combined with excellent recreation of the Star Wars vibe is more than enough to keep the fans of George Lucas’ saga entertained.

Believes that NieR: Automata is the best game ever made.
