A standalone expansion for Cossacks II: Napoleonic Wars, a real-time strategy game set in the 19th-century Europe developed by GSC Game World. Apart from six playable nations that were present in the vanilla game, the expansion offers three new ones: Spain, Duchy of Warsaw, and Confederation of the Rhine. The title also features new buildings and units, four campaigns, ten battlefields, three historical battles (including 1812’s Battle of Borodino and 1815’s Battle of Waterloo that annihilated Napoleon’s army) as well as six missions in the skirmish mode. The main highlight of the production is the extensive strategic mode called Battle for Europe in which participants fight for complete domination on the Old Continent. Apart from the single player content, Cossacks II: Battle for Europe offers an expanded multiplayer mode where we can lead new playable nations on several new maps.

The first stand-alone expansion for Soldiers: Heroes of World War II. Similarly to its predecessor, the action of the game takes place during World War II – Silent Heroes enables us to assume control of a group of six Soviet saboteurs. The game offers a new campaign consisting of 10 scenarios, involving numerous actions behind the German lines. The unit’s tour of duty includes assassinations of enemy officers, destroying radars, or taking over strategic locations. Elite Troops of WWII is characteristic for its engine, well-suited to the character of the gameplay – each object can serve as a hideout or an ambush location, while our units can make use of an extensive arsenal, including knives, pistols, or rifles. We are also given the ability to control certain vehicles and armament in order to use them during numerous clashes. Aside from numerous fixes that were introduced following the release of the original game, the authors have decided upon small updates to graphics and sound effects.

One of the first successful massive multiplayer online role-playing games. The story takes place in the universe brought to life in 1980 with the advent of the Ultima series. Ultima Online was developed by Origin Systems. The game world is a fantasy realm, bearing some resemblance to medieval Europe, called Britannia. It takes place after the events of the first installment of the series. After the fearsome wizard Mondain was defeated, his Gem of Immortality was destroyed. This led to the creation of many parallel worlds, represented in-game as individual servers. Ultima Online allows us to create a character of predefined profession (warrior, merchant or mage) and participate in the life of online community consisting of thousands of players. The players can complete various quests, fight monsters and develop their character. The world is being constantly watched by the so-called Game Masters who make sure that the players will be never bored.

A simulator set in a science fiction world. The game tries to transfer the world of a popular TV series called Babylon 5 into a game called Freespace 2. Initially, the game functioned as a modification for that game, however, over time it became a full – although free – game. Similarly to the original, The Babylon Project is an arcade space simulator. However, the difference here is that names of all ships, proper names and plots of all scenarios refer to the aforementioned TV series. The developers recreated models of ships as well as all nuances of Babylon 5 universe world (e.g. original voices, music and fragments of videos). The game also offers a multiplayer mode where the players can control fighters known from the TV series and face each other.

Another installment in a series of popular arcade fighting games developed by Team Ninja. It is the first installment to be released on Xbox 360. The game features three new playable characters, including Eliot (a Xing Yi Quan fighter - the style is based on rapid punches with open palms), Kokoro (a black-haired beauty using the style of Virtua Fighter's Akira) and a female wrestler wearing a mask. Apart from the new characters, the game offers various fighters from previous installments, such as Ryu Hayabusa or Kasumi. When it comes to the mechanics, it is an old-school fighting game - two opponents face each other in a fight which lasts until one of them is defeated. Counter-attack mechanics were improved in this installment in order to maintain a healthy balance between attack and defense. Fighting takes place on multi-leveled arenas filled with destructible objects and surprises, such as cars passing by, which can be used against the opponent. The game offers an extensive online component, featuring clans and international tournaments. Additionally, both the graphics and character physics were improved.

Initially, Half-Life 2: Episode Three was supposed to be issued directly after the previous two episodes, released in years 2006 and 2007, but the project was canceled for unknown reasons. Story-wise, it was to be a continuation of the events presented by its predecessors and to bring a closure to many unresolved plots from the entire trilogy (e.g. events concerning the legendary Borealis ship and the technology found therein, all of which were to be destroyed by Gordon Freeman, the main protagonist). At the end of Episode Two, Freeman and his companion, Alyx, fly to Antarctica to find out what happened in the base located therein and why was it attacked by the Combine. Episode Three was supposed to provide explanations.

A standalone expansion pack for the third installment in the legendary RPG series developed by Piranha Bytes. The expansion pack was created by Trine Game Studios (an Indian developer) and constitutes a link between the original Gothic trilogy and the fourth installment, which was created by another team. In terms of the plot, the game delivers a series of answers for questions the players asked themselves after completing the base version of Gothic III. Two years after the events presented in the core game, Myrthana gets divided into four parts ruled by different lords. When further conflicts and antagonisms arise, the nameless protagonist returns to put an end to lawlessness and unite Myrthana once again. Contrary to the extensive base Gothic III, the game world here is substantially smaller and the action takes place within one part of the mainland only. Along with the new plot, the players received a slightly modified combat system, new weapons and equipment, as well as improved visuals.
