A debut production of the independent studio Dim Bulb Games set up by Johnnemann Nordhagen – the gaming industry veteran who has worked on e.g. BioShock 2. The title is set in American folklore, and the plot focuses on traveling and the stories connected with it. During gameplay, you interact with other voyagers and diverse communities, like migrants from Europe, native Americans, and black slaves. The title depicts both the romantic picture of a drifter and the tragedy of people forced to leave their homes, which provokes to thinking about matters rarely brought up by games. The works of Mark Twain, Jack Kerouac, and John Steinbeck served as the source of inspiration. The world you get to explore is open, surreal, and partially three dimensional. The characteristic style is provided by the artist named Kellan Jett.

The fifth major installment in the popular mobile action RPG series by Gameloft. The story of Dungeon Hunter 5 is a direct continuation to its predecessor. Even though the forces of darkness have been stopped, glory days of the kingdom of Valenthia are at an end. Trade routes are overrun by bandits while demons appear in swamps to create a powerful undead army with the warriors who raised the grave. In the game, we assume the role of a bounty hunter who tries to restore order in the kingdom, at least partially. The gameplay mechanics haven’t been significantly changed and are still rooted in the hack ‘n’ slash genre. The protagonist’s tasks include performing subsequent quests that involve exploration of the kingdom, fighting hordes of monsters, gathering treasures, and developing skills with the obtained experience. The equipment system now lets us destroy items to acquire raw materials needed to enhance weapons.

Another DLC for the fourth installment of the popular Europa Universalis grand strategy game series. As the title suggests, the expansion takes us to the age of discoveries, although it presents the events of the period from a quite different perspective. This is because the gameplay is focused on the Central and Southern America of the turn of the 15th and 16th century, when a bloody struggle between the Spanish colonizers and local Aztec tribes took place; Europa Universalis IV: El Dorado lets us side with either. As the Spanish, we try to become as rich as possible by conquering the Aztec “golden cities” and other uncharted corners of the new world. Playing as Aztects, we have to ensure our lands’ security and do whatever we can to make the Europeans go home empty-handed. The Nation Designer tool, which provides us with previously unavailable customization options, is an integral part of the expansion.

The game’s plot follows three detectives sent to asylum to investigate murders committed in this place. DLC takes place simultaneously with the events of the main game, but features a different perspective. We now play as detective Sebastian Castellanos' missing partner, Julia Kidman, whose tale hasn’t been fully explained in the story of the base gam, allowing us to unveil the complexity of the whole story and learn the reasons behind her mysterious disappearance. A new completely plotline is introduced through exploration and solving puzzles, though fighting and action sequences are still present. DLC stands out with its darker and more claustrophobic atmosphere.

In comparison to the previous entries in the series, the game drops the online team multiplayer formula for the more classic action RPG gameplay in cooperation mode. A two-dimensional shoot ‘em up arcade game developed by the 17-bit studio. In GALAK-Z, we assume the role of a space fighter pilot who has to face enemies armed to the teeth and hostile environmental conditions. Although the general gameplay premise isn’t really different from the genre’s standards, the developers introduced several innovations. The first is the control model based on two analog sticks that we use to move and shoot, while special attacks are assigned to gamepad buttons. Moreover, the game world is a one huge open level with smaller or bigger asteroids, each having its own network of caves where we can hide from enemy fire. When designing levels, ships, and the available characters, the developers took inspiration from the classics of anime and the science fiction TV series from the ‘70s and ‘80s.
