Release Date: October 22, 2025
A combination of a narrative adventure and a strategy game. In Dispatch, we become a dispatcher working in modern Los Angeles. Our job is to discover crises and respond to them by assigning the correct superheroes to take care of the problems. We can also develop relationships with our colleagues during breaks from work.
AdHoc Studio is an independent development team, founded by former employees of companies such as Telltale Games, Ubisoft, and Night School Studio. Due to their portfolio, the team focused on preparing games focused on storytelling. Dispatch described here is their first fully original work. It is a hybrid of a narrative adventure game and strategy with a touch of comedy.
In Dispatch we watch the action from various "cinematic" shots.
Our primary duty is to observe the map of contemporary Los Angeles, receive reports and respond to crises by assigning appropriate superheroes to them. The available heroes are differentiated in terms of skills (which we improve over time), but also personality and quirks and problems they face. Additionally, the matter is somewhat complicated by the fact that every choice we make can affect the fate of both ourselves and our team, as well as the entire city.
During breaks from work, we can chat with the superheroes. Thanks to this, over time we get to know our colleagues better. Relationships with them can turn into real friendships, and even something more.
In Dispatch we play as Robert Robertson, a superhero known as Mecha Man. When the fight with his nemesis ends with the destruction of his suit, he has to take up work in a dispatch center for his male and female colleagues in the profession. From now on, his task is to manage the team and assign its members to individual cases. Somewhat incidentally, he tries to repair his superhero costume, and also nurtures relationships with the other heroes.
The graphic design of Dispatch was maintained in a cartoon style. Famous actors such as Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, Alanah Pearce, and Matthew Mercer provided voices for individual characters.
Dispatch review: Feeling the weight of your choices
Dispatch is one of the most charming, engaging, and well-written games of the year. It might be a comedy, but it doesn’t shy away from difficult subjects. You must take on the role of a mentor to a team of misfit heroes, all while navigating your own demons, not to mention the actual demon on your team. The character arcs and the team's overall arc are so satisfying and effective. I knew early on that this was a game I would play multiple times to see where different decisions would lead me. AdHoc Studio has instantly made a name for itself with this debut game.

DualShockers: 9 / 10 by Usama Mehmood
And with a writing direction that strongly emphasizes character relationships and banter with one another, it is one of the most cathartic video game experiences that I had this year, making me grateful for every minute I spent with Robert and his crew, as well as making me want to support AdHoc in any way possible in a plea for making another season on these whimsy goofballs.
The Punished Backlog: 8 / 10 by Kei Isobe
AdHoc Studio has created an intriguing premise for a narrative game in Dispatch, a “workplace comedy” in a novel setting. Buoyed by a stellar cast that strikes just the right balance of “aha, so that’s who that is” in its celebrity status with powerful performances from its heavyweights, the first two episodes of Dispatch left me thoroughly wanting more. While Dispatch does lack some of the freedom of prior Telltale experiences (at least thus far), the quality of the narrative and presentation is enough to get me hooked for now. I’m eagerly anticipating Episodes 3 and 4, and I can’t wait to share my thoughts on them with you all soon. In the meantime, if a lower-stakes, more comedic narrative experience in a superhero world speaks to you, Dispatch is worth checking out.
IGN: 9 / 10 by Sarah Thwaites
Dispatch is a sharp-witted workplace comedy that charms with its smart dialogue choices, great writing, and lovably aggravating cast.
