CD Projekt Wants to Avoid Mistake With Cyberpunk 2077; Testing Will be Thorough

CDPR will test future games on every platform. This is to avoid the problems that Cyberpunk 2077 had experienced shortly after its release.

Initial condition of Cyberpunk 2077 differed drastically depending on the platform on which the title was launched. Although there were bugs on PC, the largest number of negative reviews against the game came from people who bought it on PlayStation 4. In places, the game was simply unplayable on this platform.

CD Projekt RED has apparently learned the lesson from the release of Cyberpunk and announced, as part of the promotion of its new development strategy, that all future games will be tested on every platform they will be released on, rather than with the emphasis placed on playing them on developer PCs.

More game testing

Ahead of the release of Cyberpunk CD Projekt RED reported that the game was in good condition on both PC and PS4, and everyone who bought the game for Sony's console knows how far off the mark the statement was. It is worth recalling at this point the situation that CD Projekt RED was supposed to have been misled by the testing company Quantic Lab, which, as a result of the publicized scandal, issued an official announcement.

Recently, CDPR announced a new Witcher trilogy, sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and a completely new IP, so the developers undoubtedly have a very ambitious task ahead of them and should not repeat the mistakes of the past. Regarding the new developer strategy, it was said that:

"From the very beginning, we test the quality of gameplay on every platform and do not focus only on the PC version. Of course, this makes the early stages of the development process a bit more tedious, but it also gives us more control and confidence in the later stages of production."

The quote comes from the video, which you can watch below. In it, CDPR board members Pawel Zawodny and Piotr Karwowski talk about the studio's future game development plans.
