Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 No Sooner Than 2022

Activision announced that we shouldn't expect Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 this year. However, the refreshed version of a classic game is to be revealed soon. Many people are betting that it's a remake of Diablo 2.

We have bad news for fans of Blizzard Entertainment. Activision informed that neither Overwatch 2 nor Diablo IVwill be released this year . Both games will debut in 2022 at the earliest.

This information was revealed during the press conference dedicated to publisher's financial results. The company also confirmed that this year a refreshed version of a classic title will be announced. Many people bet that it will be a remake of Diablo 2. Rumors have been circulating for some time now, according to which Vicarious Visions, the studio known for Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, which was recently absorbed by Blizzard, is working on the project.

If a remake of Diablo 2 really is in the pipeline, it will most likely be released before Diablo IV. Thanks to the release of a refreshed version of the classic, there would be less pressure on the fourth installment and the team responsible for it would have more time to finish the project. After the disaster, which turned out to be Warcraft III: Reforged, no one wants to see another undercooked meal with Blizzard Entertainment's logo on it.

A certain surprise is the lack of Overwatch 2's release this year. According to analyst Daniel Ahmad, we will probably wait for the game until 2022. For some time there have been rumors suggesting that the game will debut in 2021, but if such was the plan, nothing came out of it. A number of projects are currently suffering delays as development teams have been forced to switch at least partially to remote work due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that we won't be able to play Overwatch 2 this year. There's always a chance that playtesting will start before the end of 2021.

It is hoped that more details about the future of both games will be revealed during BlizzConline, the virtual event to replace the BlizzCon, which will take place on February 19-20.
