Digital Sales of Sekiro Beat Dark Souls 3

Thanks to the SuperData Group's report, we learned about the sales results of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in digital distribution. The report also shows that the position of Apex Legends is weakening.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice had a very successful debut.

SuperData analytics group has released a report with the results of digital distribution on the global gaming market for March this year. This category, which includes not only actual video game sales, but also microtransactions and subscriptions, generated USD 8.7 billion, 3% less than in the third month of 2018.

The sales of full versions of PC games dropped by 23%. Mobile revenue decreased by 2%, but still accounted for 56% of the aforementioned $8.7 billion. Only console titles recorded an increase of 10%.

Fortnite did 7% better than last March, but analysts believe that the period of crazy growth is behind this title. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice had a very good debut, whose digital versions found 1.4 million buyers in March. For comparison, Dark Souls III's result in the first month was 1.2 million.

It is also worth noting that Apex Legends is becoming slightly less important, both on PCs and consoles, which is in line with recent reports about the decreasing interest of streamers in this game. Another interesting fact is the sensational debut of Perfect World Mobile, i.e. mobile port of the classic PC MMORPG. For the time being, the game is available only in Asia, which did not prevent it from immediately jumping to the first place of the most profitable mobile production.
