Elden Ring on Final Stretch; Release Date Not in Danger

Work on Elden Ring is progressing well and is slowly moving towards completion. This information was shared by From Software's marketing and community manager, Yasuhiro Kitao. In his opinion, the game's January release is not in danger.

Oh, Elden Ring. Is the wait for this title long for you too? Fortunately, it should come to an end in 109 days, or January 21, 2022. Everything seems to indicate that this release date - which was announced at the Summer Game Fest 2021 event preceding this year's E3 - is not in danger. This is according to Yasuhiro Kitao, marketing and community manager at From Software. He gave a rather extensive interview to Famitsu (available in Japanese here; a rough English translation can be found here). And although Kitao didn't reveal anything new about the game - he only repeated what we already know - when asked about the progress of work on Elden Ring he said that it's going well.

"We are in the final stages and silently moving forward."

Development of Elden Ring was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic. This was one of the reasons why we got basically no information about the title for two years, starting from the announcement at E3 2019. Kitao admitted that the developers were worried that players had forgotten about their upcoming work.

"We released a video with a June 2021 release date after a two-year silence with no new information since the video from E3 2019. I thought the title would be forgotten by this time, but there are a lot of people waiting for it and I want to thank you again for that. We will continue to develop this game to meet your expectations, so look forward to it."

It is worth recalling at this point that gamescom featured a behind-the-scenes gameplay demonstration of Elden Ring. And although we didn't have the opportunity to see the game "live", we described all the revealed story elements and gameplay. You will find it in the link below. Elden Ring will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, XONE and XSX|S.
