Elden Ring Gets Major Patch; New NPC and Stages in Some Quests

Elden Ring received a major update, numbered 1.03, today, with From Software adding a new NPC, expanding on some of the quests, and improving the game with many minor fixes.

Elden Ring, which turned out to be one of the most successful releases of the year, just got a new update - 1.03. With this patch From Software focused on eliminating many small bugs, but there are also a lot of changes that can be seen at a glance.

The new update for the game on Steam requires a download of 46.3 GB of data. In comparison, the size of the PS5 patch is much smaller - 1.4 GB.

What does patch 1.03 add?

Below are some of the points found in the patch notes of update 1.03.

  • Added a feature to save the icon and name of an NPC on the map when you come across him/her.
  • Introduced the NPC Jar-Bairn.
  • New quest stages have been added for the following NPCs: Diallos, Nepheli Loux, Kenneth Haight, Gatekeeper Gostoc.
  • Several NPCs have been added that can be summoned in different situations.
  • Increased the number of object designs that the player can transform into with Mimic's Veil.
  • Added background music for some open areas.

Additionally, From Software has fixed a significant number of bugs related to damage, items and their stats, NPCs, etc.

Many changes have also been made to the gameplay balance, which includes buffing or nerfing various weapons, skills or enemies.

Developers will certainly be polishing their creation in the near future, releasing patches to improve the game. After all Elden Ring sold sold 12 million copies within three weeks of its release, surpassing the previous best-selling game by From Software - Dark Souls III, which recorded a whopping 10 million copies bought in the four years since its release.
