Gamescom Opening Conference With Numerous Surprises and Announcements

The upcoming gamescom fair will be full of surprises and announcements. There will be fifteen big publishers who will show their games during a special conference. Among them will be Sega, which is to present a completely new AAA title, as well as Sony with the next presentation of Death Stranding.

The upcoming gamescom fair, which will start on August 19 and will traditionally take place in the German city of Cologne, might just have a chance to surpass this year's E3. On the opening day of the event, its organizers intend to organize a special conference, broadcast live (starting at 11am PST), during which numerous surprises and announcements are awaiting the players. The event will be hosted by Geoff Keighley, a well-known presenter and professional journalist. Keighley has just published on Twitter a list of fifteen publishers/developers whose games and projects will be shown during the event. The companies are: 2K Games, Activision, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Bungie, Capcom, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, Google with Stadia, Koch Media / Deep Silver, Private Division, Sega, Square Enix, Sony, THQ Nordic, Ubisoft and Microsoft.

The first gamescom fair in Cologne took place only nine years ago.

At the moment we know the details of only a few attractions prepared by the conference participants. Sony's representative in Germany will be Hideo Kojima. The Japanese artist will appear on stage with a new presentation of Death Stranding, which will hit the stores in early November. At the moment we don't know if it will be another trailer, or maybe a gameplay that will shed more light on the mysterious title.

Sega confirmed that during the event it will present a brand new AAA title. Due to the fact that the event takes place in Europe, we will almost certainly have to deal with a PC title. Although many fans suspect that it might be a new shoooter from Creative Assembly, the developers denied that they would have an announcement in Cologne. This leaves us with new projects from such studios as Relic Entertainment (Company of Heroes and Dawn of War series), Amplitude (Endless Space and Endless Legend series) or Sports Interactive (Football Manager).

In addition, we can expect that most of the invited devs will focus mainly on the games that were already presented before. 2K Games is certainly preparing new materials for fans of the Borderlands series and its upcoming third installment, Bandai Namco will focus on Code Vein, which is inspired by the Dark Souls series, Bungie will present the next chapter in the development of the Destiny 2 series (more info on its free-to-play version can be found here), and Microsoft will say something more about Gears 5 and other projects from its recently acquired developer teams. The Private Division presentation can also look interesting, with its catalog featuring the highly-anticipated action RPG The Outer Worlds and the unique survival adventure Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. Google will also be present on the event, showing new details related to the Stadia service.
