God of War: Ragnarok or Elden Ring? Game of the Year Was Chosen

We already know which title deserved to be named game of the year - Elden Ring or God of War: Ragnarok. There could only be one winner.

The best game of 2022 has been chosen. The Game Awards gala brought the answer to the question of which title should win in this category. There were six nominations, but the candidates for the crown basically only two - Elden Ring and God of War: Ragnarok. The most prestigious industry award went to the soulslike by studio FromSoftware.

The selection of the best game of 2022 was honored by the performance of an orchestra, which played musical themes from all the nominated games (see video below).

The statuette was received by none other than the director of Elden Ring, Hidetaka Miyazaki. The Japanese creator admitted that this is a great honor for him - after all, despite the many nominations in previous years, this is only the second time that FromSoftware's work has won the vote for this most important industry award. In 2019 it went to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Moreover, Miyazaki assured that the development team still has some plans for Elden Ring. Recall that yesterday - quite unexpectedly - we got a free DLC for the game, which introduced a dedicated PvP mode in Colosseums. Who knows, perhaps in the coming months we will also see the announcement of a paid story DLC. I'm sure fans would welcome it with open arms.

Elden Ring received many more awards today. One of them was the statuette awarded for best director. Below you can watch Hidetaka Miyazaki receive it.
