Gran Turismo 7 Not on PC After All? Series Creator Speaks Out

In a recent interview for Dengeki Online, the GT series producer Kazunori Yamauchi, denied reports that the studio is working on a Gran Turismo 7 port for PC. However, the chances of the series appearing on PC are not zero.

In November, you might have read about the possible PC port of Gran Turismo 7. A favorable situation for revealing the information so desired among racing fans, was the 25th anniversary of the brand. Today, with the latest interview, we unfortunately had to rein in our hopes a bit. Yes, the Gran Turismo series may hit the PC market, but it won't happen anytime soon.

Gran Turismo 7 will not come out on PC any time soon.

The details were revealed by Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Polyphony Digital, in an interview with Dengeki Online. The editor interviewing Yamauchi asked him to confirm recent reports about whether the studio is testing and developing the Gran Turismo series towards the PC platform. The man clearly denied this information, clarifying the meaning of his statement in November.

"That's not true. As far as the PC version is concerned, I replied that it's not like I haven't considered all the possibilities. This means that the probability is not zero. Simply put, if you ask me "are you doing anything specific?" I will answer that I am not doing anything. There is nothing to talk about."

The words to which Yamauchi referred were said in an interview with gtplanet. In response to a question about whether the director was considering porting the series to PC, Yamauchi confirmed. However, we now know that these are only potential plans, and not something the studio is currently working on. In a previous statement, Yamauchi also pointed out that if the series were to come to PC in the future, porting the game would not be easy, as Gran Turismo is highly optimized for the PlayStation architecture.

Release of GT7 for PCs, would also mean releasing another major Sony exclusive title outside the framework of PlayStation consoles, similar to what was done before with, for example God of War or Marvel's Spider-Man. Recall that in March (according to the plans) the PC will see the remake of The Last of Us.

Gran Turismo 7 was released on March 4, 2022 for the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles. The title before its release was praised by critics, although a common criticism later was the intrusive amount of microtransactions. Currently, the game looks much better compared to its launch status, has a friendlier business model and fewer bugs. The game also receives regular patches with new cars, and the latest news of impressive sales results fill us with optimism about its future.
