The Nintendo Switch has received another excellent title exclusive in the form of Mario Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, this time thanks to a renewed partnership with Ubisoft and the Rabbids.
Another delay suffered by Skull & Bones has left Ubisoft almost without big releases for the second half of 2022. Almost, because Mario Rabbids: Sparks of Hope will soon debut, and it's aready highly praised by critics.
Our review is also at your disposal.
The second part of Mario's crossover game with the Rabbids is unlikely to compete for the title of game of the year (even on Nintendo Switch), but according to many critics it is one of the best strategy games to be released on consoles. Already the first part was surprisingly successful, and Sparks of Hope is a typical "bigger and better" sequel.
The game captivated the reviewers in almost every aspect, from excellent audiovisuals and humor, to varied combat and a lot of optional content, to surprisingly deep tactical gameplay. The latter is still not Nintendo's definite answer toXCOM, but the mechanics are much more developed than in Kingdom Battle. At the same time, the title is still very accessible for those who prefer simpler gameplay.
Aside from complaining about the Rabbids (let's agree: you can love them, but it's easier to hate them) and the not-so-complicated storyline , the objections basically boil down to the occasionally too long clashes, even rarer bugs ("unusual for a Mario game," as one reviewer put it) and, despite everything, the lack of a major revolution in gameplay.
Nonetheless, even in the most critical reviews, journalists stress that Mario Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is an excellent strategy game not only for the youngest players, and the developers have clearly put a lot of heart into it. Even the occasional annoyance with the eponymous little critters should not spoil the fun for Switch owners.
Mario Rabbids: Sparks of Hope will debut on October 20, on Nintendo's console only, of course.
