Microsoft May be Planning Its Own Show for Early 2023

Credible rumors have appeared on the web, according to which Microsoft will hold a show early next year, dedicated to the corporation's upcoming games.

1. The source is the usually very knowledgeable journalist Jeff Grubb. He stresses that he has only heard about the Redmond giant's plans on the matter, so they may still change, but at the same time adds that similar reports have reached several of his colleagues in the industry.
2. Interestingly, according to Grubb, one new game will be announced at the show, which will be published by Microsoft. Behind it is the Japanese studio Tango Gameworks (known for Ghostwire: Tokyo and The Evil Within series).
3. This new project, however, will not be a high-budget AAA game. Instead, we can expect a smaller and more unusual production, in the style of Pentiment from Obsidian Entertainment.

Holding the show in early 2023 makes sense. Microsoft has a number of big launches planned for next year, such as Redfall, Starfield, Forza Motorsport or Minecraft Legends and during the event the company could finally reveal their exact release dates. It would also be a good opportunity to present new footage from Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, Contraband, Avowed or State of Decay 3.

Such a show is necessary, because recently Microsoft has not given its fans much reason to cheer. The year 2022 turned out to be exceptionally meagre for the company. It released only two small games in the form of As Dusk Falls and Pentiment, as well as version 1.0 of Grounded, which was available for early access in 2020.

Fans were severely disappointed also by Microsoft's absence from The Game Awards 2022. It would have made sense, however, if we assume that the company has its own presentation planned.
