Changed Warden Returns to Minecraft in New Snapshot

Snapshot 22w12a lets you face a mob that was supposed to be part of the Caves & Cliffs update, but will eventually make its way into version 1.19.

Warden - long awaited mob - finally makes it to the non-experimental version of Minecraft. We still won't see him in the full game release, but those willing to face the new enemy can install Snapshot 22w12a for the Java edition. Just activate the snapshot in the Installations section. We remind you to make a backup copy of your world or run the session with snapshots enabled from a separate folder!

Warden is back

We've been waiting for the blind mob longer than expected. The current incarnation of Warden was shown in October 2020, at the time still as part of the Caves & Cliffs Update.

It was first delayed until late 2021 to be introduced into the game as part of the second half of the update and then the mob became part of update 1.19 The Wild that is still being tested. Warden also made a brief appearance in the game last month as part of an experimental version of Minecraft.

  1. Warden has undergone some changes since the last test. He is still the strongest monster in the game with a huge amount of health points, and still only appears in the Deep Dark biome after provoking many sculk shriekers (as the name suggests, they react to ground vibrations with a horrible scream).
  2. Warden is no longer undead and has a new attack animation.
  3. The mob can also attack players at slightly higher elevations than before, and the lava doesn't deal damage to him, it just slows him down (via Brandon "kinbdogz" Pearce, a gameplay designer at Mojang Studios).

Snapshot 22w12a - other changes

Warden and the sculk shriekers he summons are the most important, but not the only new features introduced in the snapshot. Snapshot 22w12a introduced to the game, among other things, a boat with a chest and a new spell for items (more specifically: leggings), which enables faster sneaking. In addition, locations in the Deep Dark biome will no longer be flooded like before.

The new snapshot is also a long list of bug fixes, not necessarily associated with version 1.19. The full list of changes can be found on the game's official website..

Recall that Wild Update is to be released this year. At least that's what the creators promised last October.
