Official Announcement on Cyberpunk 2077 Sales Figures

There is an official current report that reveals how many copies of Cyberpunk 2077 have been sold so far (including pre-orders).

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. CD Projekt SA has sold over 13 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077;
  2. Yhe company did not include copies (both physical and digital) that were returned by customers.

Today, CD Projekt published a report with data on the sales numbers of Cyberpunk 2077. On the StockWatch, we read (in Polish) that more than 13 million copies of the game were purchased after deducting those already returned due to technical condition. You can read the full announcement below:

"The board of directors of CD PROJEKT S.A., based in Warsaw (hitherto referred to as the company) informs that based on reports from digital distribution platforms and data collected from physical distributors, it estimates that up to and including December 20, players have purchased over 13 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077. The above number corresponds to the estimates of the balance of retail sales on all hardware platforms (after taking into account the returns made by retail customers in physical and digital stores), so-called "sell through", reduced by the number of e-mail notifications from retail customers under the "Help Me Refund" shares received directly by the company by the date of publication of this report. The company's board of directors decided to publish the aforementioned information in the form of a current report due to the potential significance of this information for investor decisions."

To show just how impressive this result is, let's take a look at the constantly updated ranking of the best-selling games of all time on Wikipedia. The top 50 list is closed by Super Mario Bros. 3 with a score of 19 million (that's only 6 million more than CDP RED's game), and it debuted in 1988. Today, of course, we have completely different times, but if Cyberpunk almost made it onto the aforementioned list after only a dozen or so days after launch, CD Projekt Red may call quite a success.
