A few weeks - that's all it took for Resident Evil 2 to top the PC sales results of Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, despite the fact that the latter game has been available on the market for more than 2 years now.

Resident Evil 2 was a great success. The most recent proof of this are the sales results on PC. In less than two months, the remake has already overtaken Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, the previous main installment of the cycle.
According to the estimates of the paid version of SteamSpy, Resident Evil 2 has more than 1.2 million owners on Valve's platform, while Resident Evil VII: Biohazard boasts 700,000. The lead of the newer production is all the more impressive as it was released in January this year, while the seventh installment of the series has been working since the beginning of 2017 on its result.
Resident Evil 2 was the second best PC debut in Capcom's history, giving way only to Monster Hunter: World. RE2 didn't keep the crown for a long, however, as Devil May Cry 5 promptly dethroned it. Excellent sales results of all three games made the importance of the PC platform grow significantly for the publisher.
Let's remind that Resident Evil 2 was released on January 25 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The project was very warmly received. The PS4 version has an average rating of 90% by Metacritic.
It is worth mentioning that last month there were rumors that Capcom is already working on the Resident Evil 3 remake and the project will be released before Resident Evil 8. If Resident Evil 2 also sells better than Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, these speculations can be confirmed.
