New The Last of Us Could be F2P Live-service Game

The Last of Us may be the next series to get a free multiplayer installment.

We still don't know much about the The Last of Us multiplayer game. What's more, the title has not even been formally announced - the developers only confirmed its existence, and even that without providing even a working title (only a single concept art).

Thus, players thirsty for information are left only with rumors and speculation based on the quiet actions of the developers. For example, job listings posted by Naughty Dog suggest that the new The Last of Us may be a free-to-play online game.

The announcement on the company's official website confirms that the game's development is not yet at an advanced stage. Indeed, the candidate for the position of Producer for Live Ops is expected to "get to work early" on the project.

Moreover, Naughty Dog looks more favorably on the candidacy of people with experience in developing "high-budget free-to-play games.". Thus, the online The Last of Us will most likely also be this type of game.

Unfortunately, other than that, the offer does not reveal any details, such as information on gameplay or target hardware platforms. We do know that the title is headed for the PlayStation 5 console. However, statements from PlayStation Studios representatives suggest, that The Last of Us: Factions (as Internet users often call the game) will be released immediately on PCs as well - this is Sony's policy for live-service games.

Official information on the project is to appear only next year.
