Xbox May Get Support for Android Apps Like Windows 11

The long-awaited feature of Android app support may also come to Xbox One consoles. Such information appeared on Microsoft Store, but has not yet been officially confirmed.

One of the most anticipated features of the upcoming Windows 11 is a native support for Android applications. According to recent reports, this option will not appear with the release of the system's latest version, which irritated some users. However, it turns out that Microsoft may have bigger plans for this solution and probably the ability to run mobile apps will appear also on Xbox One consoles.

As noted by a Twitter user WalkingCat, Microsoft Store recently got a dedicated "Windows Subsystem for Android" page. In theory, this app can be downloaded on W11 without any problems even now, but it does not contain any content and displays only a blank window.

Despite the lack of functionality, the new store offer revealed some interesting information, such as the minimum requirements of the upcoming app. To run the program, we will need Windows 10 version 22000.0 or later. The website also lists Xbox One as a supported operating system, something that hasn't even been suggested by the Redmond giant before. The supported architectures are ARM64 and x64, and the amount of RAM is at least 8 GB.

Microsoft hasn't yet revealed details about Android support features, but we do know that the company has partnered with Amazon and will deliver mobile apps through the Amazon App Store, which will be available in Microsoft's store.

It is worth bearing in mind that the information is not officially confirmed by the corporation - this applies especially to support for the new feature on Xbox One consoles. So it is very likely that the tab "system requirements" may change.

The official release of Windows 11 has been announced for October 5 this year.
