Xbox Series X and S Will Enable Us to Partially Remove Games

Xbox Series X and S consoles will have an optional function to remove selected fragments of games from our hard drive. This is to help save space in the extremely limited storage of both devices.

Thanks to the new option we will save some space on the console's hard drive.
IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Xbox Series X and S will enable is to partially remove games from our storage;
  • The player will be able to uninstall, for example, only the unused game modes;
  • The feature is to be optional - game developers will decide whether they want to use it or not.

Xbox Series X is equipped with a storage of 1 TB (with the user being able to use about 802 GB after subtracting system files). The purchase of additional storage is a considerable expense - an extra terabyte will cost the player as much as $219.99. Games, whether we want it or not, are taking up more and more space and even these 2 TB may soon not be enough for an average console user. Jason Ronald, the director responsible for program management at Microsoft, during his latest podcast with Major Nelson, announced a solution to help the players save space on the Xbox Series X/S hard drive. Both devices are to be equipped with a function to delete unused parts of games from storage.

For example: if we have completed the single-player campaign and are no longer going to return to it, but continue to play regularly in multiplayer mode, we can remove the first mode from the disk and leave only the multiplayer. The feature is to be fully optional - the developers will decide whether and to what extent they will use it in their games.

Xbox Series X and S will be launched on November 10, this year. The suggested price of the devices is $499 (for Series X) and $299 (for Series S).
