Pillars Of Eternity 2: How and where can I rest?
Sending your party to rest is important in Pillars of Eternity 2 Deadfire. This is the only way to remove injuries that weaken your party members and increase their chance of dying (receiving four injuries means that a particular character will die permanently). This page contains the most important information on how to rest.
Resting in rooms

Look for rooms when you visit a village, a city or a camp. You can learn about them from local NPCs and "order" one of the available resting options.
Resting conditions depend on a location. The picture above shows three available resting options. The first option costs nothing but it "only" restores stats and removes injuries. The two other variants, which cost 400 and 800 coins respectively, also grant you various stats bonuses (they remain active until your next resting). The choice of how and where you want to rest should always be determined by your funds and in-game progress. Choosing the option that gives you useful stats bonuses is recommended when you are going on a challenging adventure with a possibility of facing tough opponents.
Note - Always ask an innkeeper about possible side quests before you pay for resting. Making them a favor can reduce costs of renting a bed.
Resting anywhere in the game's world (campsites)

Resting while exploring the world should only be done when your characters have received a lot of injuries (they lost an entire health bar due to enemy attacks or traps) and are close to being dead (death is caused by a fourth injury). Press R key or click on the right icon on the bottom of the screen to rest before reaching a village or any other location with resting rooms.
Rules for using resting option differ from the first Pillars of Eternity game. In Deadfire, you don't need camping supplies to make a campsite. Here, making them is free but this option may not be available in some locations (e.g. inside a village or near monsters' nest).
Another new important feature is the way injuries are healed. This can be done by moving food into the slots near characters' portraits (the picture above shows an example). Remember that you can choose from all types of food - thanks to that you can remove injuries and get stats bonuses for a limited period of time (e.g. faster healing or extra points for one of the parameters).
Note - Remember that you also need food for the crew of your ship. Using too much food on healing injured party members can cost you valuable supplies.
