On this page, you will read how to start and complete the following task in Disco Elysium: Talk to Garte for Sylvie. This is an optional and short mission, and it is not always easy to activate, as it requires getting enough information from Garte.
First you need to talk to Garte about Sylvie's departure. Before you talk to Sylvie, you first need to learn from him that he wanted to go out with her. The form of the dialogue will depend on the character build, but you do not have to rush to call Sylvie - you can wait until the option is available later.
If you have trouble activating the dialogue, try to present yourself as “The Harbinger of Ruin”, which, if you ask about Sylvie, will unlock the option: "She pertains to the coming apocalypse".
This is a short task that will be activated after passing the (red) Empathy skill check while talking to Sylvie about the call. Don't accuse her and don't ask uncomfortable questions (e.g. about going out for a coffee) and apologize for everything. Then you'll be given the opportunity to tell Garte that it's not his fault Sylvie left.
